Össur Athletes Earn 10 Medals, Set 2 World Records At 2018 World Para Athletics European Championships

Össur salutes members of Team Össur and Össur Ambassadors for their achievements during the 2018 World Paralympics European Athletic Championships, held in Berlin. In total, the athletes took home 10 medals and set two World Records during the competition.

Össur Ambassador and Paralympian Marie-Amélie Le Fur made history as the first parathletic woman to perform a Long Jump over six meters, while Team Össur member, World Record-holder and multiple-time Paralympian Markus Rehm set a new World Record in the Men’s Long Jump T64, with a distance of 8.48 meters.

Other winning performances from Team Össur members included double Gold-medalist Daniel Wagner, who won both the Men’s 100m T63 sprint and Men’s Long Jump T63, and bilateral amputee runner and multiple-time Paralympian Richard Whitehead, who took Gold in the Men’s 200m T61.

In addition, Team Össur member Helgi Sveinsson took Bronze for his performance in Men’s Javelin F64, and Össur Ambassador Jean-Baptiste Alaize was the Bronze medalist in Men’s Long Jump T64. Össur Ambassador Stef Reid also took Bronze in the Women’s Long Jump T64.
